CUBA: Life After the Revolition...the documentary photography of Eric Berry

Artist Bio:

Eric Berry is a LA/NY based travel and street portrait photographer. He was first introduced to photography during his studies at Howard University, but it wasn’t until years later that his passion for the art truly blossomed.

Eric has traveled around the United States capturing images, but he’s most proud of his work in foreign destinations like Belize, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico, Cambodia and Thailand.

During a 2010 trip to Nicaragua, Eric captured multiple images that would go on to win several international photography competitions, and be recognized by the Los Angeles Times. “That was a turning point for me,” Eric explains. “I knew then that this was what I wanted to do.”

Determined to continue honing his skill, Eric booked a flight to Cuba in the fall of 2011 to document how life had changed in the country since the Cuban Revolution.

Armed with only one battery, no charger, and $600 in cash, Eric spent 15 days traveling around Havana, Trinidad, Santa Clara and Viñales documenting the moments, people and locations that stood out to him.

“Cuba: Life After the Revolution,” is Eric’s first art exhibit, and one he’s particularly proud of. “When people leave the show, I want them to feel like they’ve learned something – I want them to have a sense of what life is like in Cuba – and I think some of these images really help with that.”
